If you ask a secondary school student what course he or she wants to study in the higher institution,it is common to receive replies such as 'I dont know yet,it all depends on my result' or 'I want to read what can fetch me big money' and so on.
Many of our students do not carry out career planning;they just drift along not realising the importance of this step.The course of study and careeer you choose todaywill greatly determine your sucess or failure tomorrow.You may have to pay a heavy price for mistakes and wrong decisions because of ignorance and failure to plan your career.Many students have chosen the wrong courses,which later resulted in academic failures,frustration and depression in later life.
Many workers today are frustratedbecause they are in the wrong career-the result of a wrong choicebefore starting a courseof study or a career,it is very important to discover yourself.the saying 'know your self' is very important.Perhaps,you need to ask yourself these sout-searching questions:-What am I looking for in life?What will make me happy or frustrated?What will interest me most?What values do i hold in life?What are my strenght and weakness?What qualifications and skill do I have?
